Texas A&M (18-9) dropped their first game in the Blue & Gold Classic played on the campus of Florida International Univeristy in Miami. The Aggies lost 4-2 to the University of Massachusetts (8-7) in the opening game of the tournament.

UMass jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Robustelli hit Slataper's second pitch over the left field wall. The score remained the same until the top of the fifth when, with runners on second and third, sophomore Jana James hit a single over third base that scored Morgan Hebert and Jennifer Davis giving the Aggies a one-run lead. The lead for the Ags was short lived as UMass scored two in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth as they went on to beat the Aggies.
