The 20th-ranked Texas A&M softball team (19-10) defeated the Owls of Florida Atlantic 10-2 in the Blue & Gold Classic in Miami on Saturday. The Ags run-ruled the Owls in six innings after taking an eight run lead off of 11 hits.
Sophomore Jana James led the offensive onslaught as she hit safely in all four of her plate appearances. James had three singles, a home run and drove in three as she paced the Aggie offense. The home run was James' first collegiate home run as she hit an opposite field shot in the second inning that put the Aggies up 4-2.
Senior Lindsey Rippee got the start and earned her fifth win of the season, improving to 5-0 overall. The right-hander from Kerrville holds the only perfect record on the staff this year and has pitched three complete games in all three of her starts. Her 0.91 ERA is also a staff best as she has faced 108 batters.
