The 20th-ranked Texas A&M softball team exploded for seven runs in the first three innings en route to a 9-5 win over Syracuse on Sunday to wrap up action in the Blue and Gold Classic at Florida International. The win gave the Aggies a 2-2 record on the weekend and locked them into a fourth place finish in the tournament.

Against the Orangewomen the Aggies (20-10) were led offensively by Kristin Gunter, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs on the day. Lindsay Wilhelmson picked up the win in relief to improve to 10-3 on the season.

After struggling on Friday the Aggies rebounded and evened their weekend record at 2-2 after sophomores Adrian Gregory and Jana James stepped up and provided a much needed spark. Gregory hit .455 in the tournament with 4 RBI's coming off of five hits including one double and one triple, she also stole three bases in three attempts. James was just as effective as she hit .438 with a double and a home run while driving in six. Both players were named to the all-tournament team. The honor was James' second in as many weeks as she was named to the all-tournament team in the Democrat Invitational in Tallahassee the previous weekend.
