The first spring football workout for the Aggie football team under the direction of Head Coach Dennis Franchione was enthusiastic with a high energy level.
"This was a good first day, of the first year," Coach Fran said. "We got a lot of reps and the kids tried hard. We had a good tempo and pace to our practice. This gives us a good foundation to build on. We need to come out tomorrow and add to it. The important thing is to improve each day. I was pleased with the way they (players) handled practice."
"I have never worked that hard on the football field in my life," Aggie defensive back Jaxson Appel said. "We got a lot of reps in and the main thing was going hard and giving everything we had. We'll need to continue to work at this pace to be the type of team we want to be."
Adding to the excitement of the first day of spring drills was the entire Corps of Cadets showing up for the end of the practice session and an impromptu yell practice took place, complete with the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band and a couple of Yell Leaders.
"The Corps of Cadets and the entire student body provide great support here at Texas A&M and it means a lot to the players and coaches," Coach Fran said. "The Spirit of the 12th Man makes Texas A&M special."
The Aggies will workout in shorts and helmets at the grass practice fields beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 19. Practices are open to the public, but fans are encouraged to call the practice hotline at 979-458-2185 to register and for other instructions and information.
