March 20, 2003
| --Senior softball player Selena Collins will share her thoughts on the season, and other things, with us each week in AggieAthletics.com's player diary segment. March 20, 2003 We just started our first games of Big 12 play with Texas Tech, and the outcome of the games was not one that we (Texas A&M) would expect (4-1 loss and 10-1 win). The weather was horrible, it felt like it was 40 degrees with rain. I am not saying that has to do with the outcome of our game that we lost, because the second game we came out and run-ruled them. It would of been nice to walk away with two wins but I guess that is just something you have to let go. We are looking forward to being home this weekend because it feels like we have been on the road for about a month now. It will be good to be out there in front of our own fans. I hope that now that conference has started I personally am able to relax and release the weight off my shoulders that I am so obviously carrying. I am not one to buckle under pressure, in fact I thrive in pressure situations. I am starting to feel relaxed now and I feel like I am starting to have fun again knowing that I am playing a game I love. I look forward to seeing my teammates do their jobs on an individual basis. I look forward to seeing our team come together and put hits together as a team, just as we did against Tech in the second game. I feel our team has so much to offer as I have continuously said, it's just a matter of putting it together. We play Nebraska this weekend and I am just so excited to come out and play them at home. We have had to travel to Lincoln two years in a row and to host them this year will be great. I know our team will feel rested and ready to play so these games should be exciting. Another good thing about conference play is one game a day. We are able to play each day giving 110 percent, leaving everything on the field, and then turn around and do it again the next day. I can't explain the excitement I feel about starting conference, this is my last year of conference play and I am so excited be able to play it with the team I am playing with right now. I know one thing...if I had to pick any team from all four years that I would go to battle with it would be the team I am playing with right now. I love these girls and I know we are headed for great things. Here is to a great weekend Ags. Beat the Hell outta Nebraska! Whoop! Here is to a great Big 12, Seniors!
