The Texas A&M football team donned full pads for the first time this spring as drills continued Friday afternoon at the grass practice facility near Kyle Field.

After sporting shorts and helmets for the first two workouts, the Aggies began limited contact during the workout.

"This was our first day in pads and it was a little bit of an adjustment for the players after being in shorts for two days," A&M coach Dennis Franchione said. "It was good to see the guys run and see how they carry the pads."

Franchione noted the squad's enthusiasm during the Aggie Drill which is a one-on-one contact drill.

"It was enthusiastic and intense and just an outstanding drill," Franchione said. "If I could only do one drill that would be the one. I think the whole team enjoyed it."

The Aggies will return to the grass practice fields for more work in full pads on Saturday. The practice is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m.

Practices are open to the public, but fans are encouraged to call the practice hotline at 979-458-2185 to register and for other instructions and information.

The Aggies will conclude spring drills with a Maroon & White Game, presented by AT&T Wireless, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 12 at Kyle Field. Advance tickets are $5 and tickets the day of the game will be $7.
