The No. 23 Texas A&M softball team (22-11, 2-1) beat the fifth ranked Cornhuskers (19-6, 1-2) 3-2 in nine innings Saturday at the Aggie Softball Complex.

The Aggies won their second conference game of the season in the bottom of the ninth when freshman Rocky Spencer hit the 0-1 delivery from Tobias into the right-center gap scoring Cheryl Fowler who reached base on a bunt single.

Nebraska got on the board first in the game when senior Lisa Wangler hit her sixth home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning giving the Huskers a 1-0 lead.

The Aggies answered the Nebraska challenge in the bottom of the fourth as freshman Kristin Gunter singled through the left side and Aggie starting pitcher Lindsay Wilhelmson hit a towering home run off the left field light post to give the Aggies a 2-1 lead. The home run was Wilhelmson's fifth of the year.

With Nebraska down to its last three batters Amanda Buchholz evened the score in the top of the seventh as she took Wilhelmson's first pitch of the inning over the left field wall. The Aggies locked down the Huskers for the rest of regulation and took them to extra innings before earning the victory.

With the win Wilhelmson, a junior from North Richland Hills, improved to a staff-best 11-4 as she went the distance pitching all nine innings and striking out eight Huskers.

The Aggies and Huskers will play again tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.
