Texas A&M softball player Crystal Martin was named the Big 12 Player of the Week Tuesday. The senior from Arlington helped the Aggies improve their record to 23-11 overall and 3-1 in conference as they won three of their four conference games.
Martin, the Aggie shortstop, hit .467 in three victories for A&M which included two extra inning contests against No. 5 Nebraska. She opened the week with a single and a three-run home run in the 10-1 win at Texas Tech. She then reached base five times in two games against Nebraska - 3-2 (9) and 6-5 (12) wins for the Aggies. Her fourth inning RBI single against the Huskers last Sunday pushed the game into extra innings.
The Aggies take the field on Wednesday as they host Sam Houston State University in a double header at the Aggie Softball Complex. Play is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. Live audio and statistics for the games will be available on AggieAthletics.com.
