The Texas A&M football team practiced for two hours in shorts and shells on Friday at the grass practice fields.
Head coach Dennis Franchione said the Aggies have been steadily progressing.
"They are learning a lot, more and more every day," Coach Fran said. "We've take a few steps forward. You could see it today in the way they practiced. They were more aggressive and more physical which means they are more mentally confident in what they're doing. We're getting lots of reps, lots of plays and we're coming along."
The team is gearing up for Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage that will be held on Kyle Field. The workout begins at 11:45 a.m.
"You don't get to scrimmage that many times so it's important," Coach Fran said. "It will be like our gameday. The defense has to tackle and tackle well. We're going into our stadium and it needs to be special. We have to defend our home turf. Even though it's an intrasquad game, you have to go in with the right frame of mind."
Practices are open to the public, but fans are encouraged to call the practice hotline at 979-458-2185 to register and for other instructions and information.
The Aggies will conclude spring drills with a Maroon & White Game, presented by AT&T Wireless, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 12 at Kyle Field. Advance tickets are $5 and tickets the day of the game will be $7. For more ticket information contact the athletic ticket office at 1-888-99-AGGIE or 979-845-2311, or access the spring football information at AggieAthletics.com.
