The No. 19 Texas A&M softball team (26-13, 4-3) was beaten 2-1 by the Baylor Bears Wednesday at Getterman Stadium in Waco. The Bears capitalized on five hits and four A&M errors as they improved to 25-16 overall and 1-5 in Big 12 play.

The Bears crossed the plate first in the bottom of the third as Sarah Caudle scored when catcher Selena Collins, while trying to put Caudle out in a rundown, threw the ball into center field allowing Caudle to score from second. Caudle reached second on a walk and a sacrifice bunt by teammate Stephanie Pomes.

Collins made up for her second inning error as she brought the Aggies even with the Bears in the top of the fourth when she delivered the 2-2 pitch over the left field wall. The home run was her tenth of the season and first since March 8 against Florida A&M.

Baylor recaptured the lead in the bottom of the inning as Kim Wilmoth led off with a triple to the right field gap and scored when Collins threw the ball into center field while trying to throw out Kelly Osburn at second base. The two Bear runs is all they would need as the Bears defeated the Aggies for the 11th time in series history.

Junior Jessica Slataper (8-9) received the loss in the game as she allowed five hits and one earned run while striking out six Baylor batters.

The Aggies return to the field on Saturday at 2 p.m. as they host Oklahoma State at the Aggie Softball Complex.
