Texas A&M second baseman Adrian Gregory was named the softball Big 12 Player of the Week Tuesday by the Big 12 Conference office. The sophomore from Livingston, Texas led the Aggies in a sweep of No. 17 Oklahoma State over the Weekend.
Against OSU Gregory moved to the leadoff spot for the first time in her career and came up big in her new role. In Saturday's matchup she was 3-for-3 with a walk, two home runs and one single along with three RBI's as the Aggies defeated OSU ace Lauren Bay.
Gregory, who moved from the outfield to second this year, hit .429 last week on the strength of three hits in seven at-bats. She scored four runs, walked three times and did not make an error as she recorded seven putouts and three assists. On the week Gregory owned a 1.286 slugging percentage and racked up nine total bases in three games.
Gregory is the third A&M player to receive a Big 12 weekly player award this year. Pitcher Lindsay Wilhelmson was awarded the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week award on March 5 and shortstop Crystal Martin received accolades as the Big 12 Player of the Week on March 25.
