The 18th-ranked Texas A&M softball team travels to Austin on Wednesday, April 9 to play No. 5 Texas. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at McCombs Field on the campus of the University of Texas.

After finishing last week with a 2-1 record and moving to 28-13 overall, the Aggies moved to No. 18 in the NFCA/USA Today national poll while they remained No. 19 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25.

Last Wednesday the team traveled to Waco and dropped a disappointing game to Baylor, 2-1. Over the weekend Texas A&M took two games from a hot Oklahoma State team beating the Cowgirls 7-5 on Saturday and 3-0 on Sunday.

Texas swept Texas Tech in a double header on Wednesday before traveling to Missouri for a weekend series. The Longhorns lost a game to the Tigers 1-0 in Saturday's match-up and did not get to play Sunday as the game was rained out.

Texas and Texas A&M have met 16 times on the field with the Longhorns holding a 9-7 advantage in the series. The last time they played A&M got the best of Texas as they beat them 2-1 in an elimination game at the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City last year.

Fans can follow Aggie softball action by logging on to AggieAthletics.com and listening to Matt Simon do the play-by-play while Clint Netherland provides color commentary.

The Aggies travel to Lawrence, Kansas this weekend to take on the Jayhawks in a two-game set beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. A&M's next home game is Wednesday April 16 when they host Texas A&M Corpus Christi in a non-conference double header.
