The No. 18 Aggies (28-14, 6-4) and the fifth-ranked Longhorns (30-7, 7-2) battled it out today in Austin before a crowd of 1,376 fans. The game was a hard fought struggle that included one run, six hits and 25 total strikeouts but had the Aggies coming out on the short end of a great game. The Longhorns triumphed, 1-0, off of a seventh inning home run by Chez Sievers.

Texas A&M junior Jessica Slataper pitched a great game as she and the Aggie defense did not allow a Longhorn runner to get past first base until Sievers hit the game-winning home run over the left field fence. Slataper dropped to 9-10 on the season after pitching a complete game with six strikeouts, one walk and only allowed three base runners before the home run.

A&M's best chance to score came in the fourth inning when Senior Crystal Martin led-off with an infield single and advanced to second on her team-leading and career-high 12th stolen base of the season. With two outs and Martin on second, third baseman Jennifer Davis hit a single to left and Martin was waved around third trying to break the scoreless tie but was thrown out at the plate by left-fielder Alexi Garcia closing out the inning and ending the Aggie threat.

The Aggies return to action on Saturday when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence.
