The Texas A&M men's golf team carded a final round of 298 on Sunday and finished 14th at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course.
The tournament was A&M's last tuneup before the Big 12 Championships April 28-29 in Tulsa, Okla.
UCLA won the team title with rounds of 279-277-284=840, finishing 10 strokes ahead of runner-up Oklahoma State (850).
San Diego State finished third at 851, followed by Fresno State (853), Oregon (856), UC-Irvine (859), Stanford (864), Washington State (869), Long Beach State (870), Pacific (872), California (873), San Jose State (875), San Francisco (877), A&M (296-297-298=891), San Diego (894) and Santa Clara (902).
San Diego State's Mark Warman captured the individual crowd with a seven-under-par total of 71-62-73=206 on the par-71, 6,786-yard course. Oregon's John Ellis (67-72-68=207) and UC-Irvine's Jeff Coburn (66-67-74=207) tied for second.
Junior Stephen Reed led the Aggies, tying for 46th place with rounds of 74-75-73=222. Also for A&M, senior Shaun Helmle tied for 52nd at 74-72-77=223; junior Parker Briley tied for 59th at 73-75-76=224; freshman Andrew Parr tied for 59th at 75-77-72=224 and junior David Tasker tied for 74th at 76-75-78=229.
"We had a lot of trouble with the greens and had a hard time reading the breaks," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "They also had some tough pin placements and we were pressing too much, trying to make things happen, and it backfired. We are looking forward to getting it back together for conference next week."
