No. 19 Texas A&M (33-16, 9-6) host the Baylor Bears (28-25, 2-13) Thursday at 6:30 at the Aggie Softball Complex. This will be the 57th meeting between the schools with Texas A&M leading the series 44-11-1. In their last game, on April 2 in Waco, Baylor defeated the Aggies 2-1. A&M is tied with Nebraska for fifth place in the conference while the Bears are in last place.
Texas A&M enters the contest after dropping a tough game to No. 3 Texas on Tuesday before a crowd of 907 fans, the largest of the season. A&M is led by catcher Selena Collins who is hitting at a .313 clip with 11 home runs, 35 RBI's and 39 walks. A&M has two juniors that could start in the circle with Jessica Slataper (12-11) or Lindsay Wilhelmson (15-5). In their last game with Baylor, Slataper got the nod and pitched a complete game allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six but received the loss due to four A&M errors.
Baylor comes to College Station having lost their last six games. Their last win came on April 10 when they took a doubleheader from Sam Houston State. The Bears won the games 8-0 and 6-3. Their last conference win came against Texas Tech on April 8 when they defeated the Raiders 2-0 in the first game of the doubleheader in Waco. The Bears are led at the plate by sophomore Kim Wilmoth of Garland who is hitting at a .361 clip with 20 RBI?s and one home run. Wilmoth is joined by freshman Kelly Osburn of Missouri City who is hitting .341 with eight home runs and 23 RBI?s. The Aggies are likely to see Cristin Vitek in the circle as she got the start in the last game against A&M. Vitek (12-13) comes into the game with a 2.13 ERA and 159 strikeouts.
Thursday's matchup with the Bears will be the final home game for the Aggies this season. They travel to Norman on Friday for a weekend series with the Sooners before playing in the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City from May 1-4.
