| --Senior softball player Selena Collins will share her thoughts on the season, and other things, with us each week in AggieAthletics.com's player diary segment. May 4, 2003 We just arrived home from the Big 12 Tournament, and although we did not win it we left there feeling okay about ourselves. It's something that is felt among us all. We know that if we play good defense we will go a long way. We played Nebraska in our last game before being sent home. We started out really rough. Our defense was not as solid as it can be. We gave up five runs in the first two innings. Now, what does that tell you? But the good thing about our team is that we never give up. We fight until the bitter end. We have so much heart on this team, I guess that is why I feel so strongly about how well we should do in the regional tournament. We fought all the way down to the last inning. With two outs we had the bases loaded, Jana hit the ball to center field and Coach holds me up at third. Well, the girl in center throws the ball home and it gets to the backstop, so on instinct I run home. needless to say I was called out, with Crystal coming up to bat. I was upset in the fact that I know I should have stayed but my reactions told me otherwise. Knowing I was not the winning run, I should have stayed but I didn't, taking the bat out of Crystal's hands. I was upset but I also know that I didn't lose the game for us, for we had many opportunities to win. I do know that we learn from our mistakes and get better from them. I look forward to finding out where we go for regionals and I look forward to having a good outing, for I know it's the seniors' last regional and hopefully first World Series. Right now we are trying to get finals taken care of. We have these next three days off and start practicing again on Thursday. Good luck on finals and beat the hell outta them. Good job this weekend and know that all we can take from this weekend is confidence and hopefully we are able to learn and capitalize in regionals.
