The Texas A&M men's golf team will close its regular season at The Maxwell on Saturday and Sunday at Ardmore Country Club.
The tournament will be A&M's final warmup for the NCAA Central Regional next Thursday through Saturday at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan.
The Maxwell will consist of 36 holes on Saturday and a final 18 holes on Sunday on the par-70, 6,442-yard course. In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, Houston, SMU, Penn State, Tulsa, Louisiana-Lafayette, North Florida, North Texas, Texas Tech, Washington and Oklahoma City.
Representing A&M will be senior Shaun Helmle, juniors David Tasker, Stephen Reed and Parker Briley, and freshman Andrew Parr.
Reed was named to the All-Big 12 team last week. The Aggies are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships, led by Tasker's third-place individual finish.
"The Maxwell is always a great event and provides us with an opportunity to compete before heading to Regionals," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "With finals going on all this week, we really haven't been able to practice so this tournament will give us a chance to prepare for Colbert Hills. We also play a little different format at The Maxwell with all five players on each team playing together, which is a lot of fun."
A&M will be one of 27 teams at the NCAA Central Regional competing for 10 qualifying spots in the NCAA Championships May 28-31 in Stillwater, Okla.
