The No. 22 Texas A&M softball team (36-20) opened play in the NCAA Region with an 8-4 win over the Eagles of Boston College. Sophomore Jana James led the Aggies as she went 3-for-3 with four RBI's and two runs scored. James scored the first run of the game after hitting a triple in the second and recorded the first grand slam of her career in the fourth inning putting the Aggies up 8-0.

James scored the first run of the game on a Lindsay Wilhelmson single up the middle and Adrian Gregory added a second run in the third inning when she hit a home run to right-center, her tenth of the season.

Along with James' grand slam in the fourth, A&M added two other runs when Crystal Martin and Sherah Atkins, who was pinch running for Lindsay Wilhelmson, scored on a single to left field by Rocky Spencer. Martin reached on a walk before Wilhelmson hit her second single of the day to put herself safely aboard.

Junior Jessica Slataper was in the circle for the Ags and pitched a complete game allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits while striking out five and walking five. With the win Slataper improved to 14-13 on the season.

The Eagles scored two runs in the fifth off of two hits and an Aggie error and added their final two in the sixth off of an Erin Mackey home run to left field.
