Texas A&M men's basketball coach Melvin Watkins said Monday he regrets Rob Wright will be unable to join his coaching staff because of medical reasons.
The head coach at Carter High School in Dallas, Wright accepted a position as assistant coach at A&M last week then reneged because of undisclosed medical reasons.
"We are disappointed Rob will be unable to join our staff," Watkins said. "Because of his situation, this is the best thing for him and his family at this time. We certainly support him and wish him well."
Watkins said he had no timetable for filling the vacant staff position.
