Texas A&M Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione and his staff welcomed 105 Aggie football players to campus on Tuesday.

"It is exciting," Coach Fran said. "We just had a team meeting and reviewed all our strength gains (from the summer)."

The players met with the equipment staff and attended a team meeting on Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday's first fall practice.

"The guys are anxious, and you do feel a little buzz down there," Coach Fran said. "We're excited to get out on the field. We have our meetings tomorrow and start talking football and getting down to business."

As expected, tight end Joey Thomas from Austin Westlake High School and Tate Pittman, a defensive lineman from Odessa Permian High School, were not among the 105 reporting due to injuries.

The Aggies open the 2003 season on Aug. 30 against Arkansas State at Kyle Field. The game will kick at 7 p.m. and the contest will be televised on a pay-per-view basis.
