Over the past few weeks the 2003 Aggie football team has had a great two-a-days. With the new coaching staff in place the team has meshed well. We have come together solidly which, I think, will be evident on Saturday when we play our first game against Arkansas State. Many new leaders have emerged and it's extremely exciting to see what we can do when we're all on the same page. Coach Fran and his staff have done a great deal to improve our attitudes and excitement through this past off-season. The coaches as a whole seem to be a tight-knit group who work very well together, and I think that this is one of the many qualities that make them such great teachers.
Working out this past week and getting ready for the big game on Saturday, it has become evident that we as a team are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We are all sick and tired of going up against and hitting our own teammates, so we're going to be out looking for someone else to hit for a change. After talking to some of the media it seems that they expect this week's game to be a piece of cake, but I feel that, just like any other opponent, we need to play them to the best of our ability. They are talented, with multiple weapons, and they should be taken seriously. As Coach Fran has emphasized to us as a team, the first game is about us. If we are not careful we can be our own enemy. We cannot and should not have ANY mental mistakes or stupid penalties.
We can definitely feel the excitement in the air. The season is finally here, and this one is going to be different than any other. Thanks to all the fans that will be there on Saturday to support us, and BEAT THE HELL OUTTA Arkansas State!!
