It has been a while since I last wrote and a lot has happened since then. These last couple of weeks have been very challenging. We knew that the beginning of our season was going to be tough. The first five games of our conference have been against Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, Texas and Kansas State. This has definitely been the toughest start of conference play I have experienced in the three years I have been here and I think a lot of positive things have come out of it. We have acknowledged the things that we need work on and the things that we are doing well.
We took a couple of really hard losses and I think the toughest to swallow has been the Texas game. But we are trying to take the positive things out of that match. We know that we need to work on staying tough and not letting down and the past couple of practices have been really good in that sense. The focus of the drills in practice has been stringing good plays together so we can transfer that into a game. This is both a physical challenge as well as a mental challenge.
My mom came in town last Friday and she leaves on Thursday. It has been a lot of fun having her here. My house is remarkably clean!!!! She definitely got a taste of some weather she has never seen before. The rain on Sunday was quite a show.
Tomorrow we play Texas Tech at home. This has always been a big game for us. Their team has a lot of energy and enthusiasm and we are really excited to play. We are going into the match very focused on our game trying to get back to the high level we can play at.
