The Texas A&M men's golf team carded an opening round of five-over-par 293 on Monday and is in 12th place at the Barona Collegiate Cup at Barona Creek Golf Club.

The finish of Monday's afternoon round was postponed because of darkness and will be completed on Tuesday morning. The final round also will be played on Tuesday.

Colorado State fired a blistering 15-under-par 273 to take the lead by three strokes over New Mexico (276). Denver is in third place at 278, followed by Wichita State (283), Texas-El Paso (284), Washington State (285), Ohio State (287), Brigham Young (288), Louisville (288), Alabama-Birmingham (288), Fresno State (289), A&M (293), North Carolina-Greensboro (294), Nevada (297), Hawaii (297), San Diego State (300), San Diego (306) and the San Diego State JV (312).

UAB's Chris Cousins posted a seven-under-par 65 and leads the individual standings by two strokes over New Mexico's Charlie Beljan (67).

Unfortunately for the Aggies, their best score of the day came from freshman Peter Andrews, who is playing as an individual and does not count in the team scoring. Andrews carded a three-under-par 69 and is tied for 12th place in his college debut.

A&M senior David Tasker is tied for 28th place after an even-par 72, while sophomore Andrew Parr is tied for 42nd after a 73. Also for the Aggies, senior Stephen Reed and junior David Schultz are tied for 48th (74), and senior Parker Briley is tied for 94th (80).
