I was sure glad to get a win this past Saturday. We played well as a team and got the job done. Kansas is a much-improved team this year, and I think that was evident in the game. Their young freshman quarterback was impressive and I think he surprised a lot of people. Courtney Lewis had another good day rushing, and he took one more step closer to the 1,000-yard mark, one of our big team goals set before the season began.
I had heard that there were a lot of sports passes for sale in the Battalion, but until I stepped on the field on Saturday I didn't really take it too seriously. (It sure looked like there was more than "TWO PERCENT" missing!) The turnout at Kyle Field, especially on the student side, was disappointing and disheartening. This school is known for its camaraderie, not only towards opponents but towards each other as well. Though we're going through a tough season, it's ridiculous for the fans to give up, especially when we're trying our hardest not to. The team fully expects Kyle Field to be a packed house on November 28th. It should be packed no matter who we're playing.....t.u. or Kansas. I know we have better fans than that. The 12th Man is always supposed to be there....whether we're winning or not.
This week we head into Norman, Oklahoma to face the No. 1-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Not much needs to be said about this team. They're big, fast, and very effective. Last year we were able to pull off a victory at home against them, and we took away their No. 1 ranking. It will be important for our team to hang with the Sooners on the scoreboard into the fourth quarter. This team is known for the number of points they can put up, and it seems that the farther ahead they get, the less they let up.
I was speaking with Geoff Hangartner today about how excited we were to play the game, and he said that he never has a problem getting jacked up to play these kinds of games. I think that's how the whole team feels right now. We're very excited and ready to play. BEAT THE HELL OUTTA OU!!!!
