Last week was our unload week in the weight room and let me tell you, it was wonderful! We only worked out on Monday and Wednesday and got to play Flickerball on Thursday. Flickerball is my favorite thing to do in off-season! It is just like Ultimate Frisbee but with a football. For those of you who still don't know what the heck I am talking about, it is kinda like a mixture between football and basketball. Once you catch the ball you cannot move forward at all. You can run laterally as much as you want to look for one of your teammates upfield to throw to. If the person catches the throw, the process starts all over again, but if it is missed or knocked away the other team gets the ball where you threw it from. You get a point when one of your teammates catches the ball in the end zone. Once that happens you kick off to the other team and it starts all over again. It is a very up-tempo game and again you can imagine how competitive we get. It is so much fun!
On Thursday we broke off into our "Survivor" teams, Big Bodies and Fatty's, and the games began. It was as competitive as ever but the Big Bodies, my team, ended up winning. We earned to points towards our "Survivor Challenge" total, putting us ahead four to three. Hopefully we can keep it that way!
So what week follows our unload week? That would be our test week. Today we maxed out on power clean, tomorrow will be bench press, and Wednesday will be squat.
Today was great day! I think every single person increased their weight and you could definetly tell that everyone took it seriously. We had some people attempting to get a certain weight like 10 or 15 times. It was incredible! Not to embarass her or downplay what anyone else did but Sharonda was AMAZING. She threw up more weight than any of us and this was just her first time to ever max out on power clean. It was awesome!
We have two more days of testing so hopefully they will go just as well as today went.
Hope everyone has a safe trip home and has a Great Thanksgiving!
Adrian
