The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the Mason Rudolph Championship on Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Club of Tennessee. The 18-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday for a total of 54 holes on the par-71, 6,844-yard golf course.
In addition to A&M, the field includes Alabama, Alabama-Birmingham, Baylor, College of Charleston, Florida State, Furman, Georgia State, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi, North Florida, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Carolina-Aiken, Navy, Virginia and host Vanderbilt.
Representing the Aggies will be seniors Stephen Reed (Houston/St. Thomas HS), Parker Briley (Abilene/Wylie HS) and David Tasker (Willowvale, Australia/Bowral HS), junior David Schultz (Richardson/Berkner HS) and sophomore Andrew Parr (London, Ontario/Oakridge Secondary).
The Aggies opened their season with a fifth-place finish at the 20-team Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 12-13 in Albuquerque, where they defeated No. 11-ranked Arizona and No. 16 North Carolina State. Parr tied for fourth in the individual standings with a one-under-par total of 73-72-70=215, while Tasker tied for 15th at 218.
"We got our season off to a great start last week in Albuquerque and it is really important that we build on that this week," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We are facing another strong field of teams and this is a terrific opportunity for us to show just how much we have improved from last year and that we can compete with good teams. The Golf Club of Tennessee is a fantastic layout and should provide a tough challenge, but we have been playing well and I think we are up to the test."
