Texas A&M moved up one spot to a season-high No. 16 in the final USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, the AVCA recently announced.
The ranking is the Aggies' highest since a No. 11 showing in the final poll of the 2001 season. In addition, it is A&M's fifth highest final poll ranking since the inception of the poll in 1982.
A&M, which was not ranked following the 2002 season, finished the 2003 campaign with a 23-10 record after making its 11th consecutive NCAA appearance. The Aggies advanced to the regional semifinals for the fifth time in nine years and the sixth time in school history before falling to eventual national champion Southern California. The loss to the Women of Troy marked the third consecutive year A&M was ousted by the eventual champion.
In addition to Texas A&M, the Big 12 Conference is represented by No. 11 Kansas State and No. 13 Nebraska in the final poll. Kansas received points and is listed 27th.
