WATKINS QUOTEBOARD: "We had a lot of good play from our guys against Long Island and I was pleased with that. We tend to play to the level of competition, but this time we stayed focused on what we wanted to do. We hope that gives our kids some confidence. We did a much better job of distributing the basketball. We tell our players that they have to earn minutes. As we move into conference play, it becomes a different game. We have been preaching about coming out and finishing games and we did that against Long Island. We will find out a lot about ourselves in the next couple of weeks against Missouri and Kansas and hopefully what we learn will be positive. Missouri is a very talented team with a lot of different weapons. They are a really good rebounding team and they can hurt you with their three-point shooting ability."

LONG ISLAND RECAP: COLLEGE STATION -- Antoine Wright scored 25 points as Texas A&M defeated Long Island 89-63 Tuesday night. A&M (7-4) got a spark from Luis Clemente, who scored 13 points off the bench in relief of center Andy Slocum. Slocum had 15 points and nine rebounds.
