Texas A&M quarterback Reggie McNeal, a sophomore from Lufkin, Texas, underwent shoulder surgery on Friday as an outpatient at the Physicians Centre in College Station.
"Reggie had torn cartilage in his right shoulder and it needed to be repaired," Aggie Head Coach Dennis Franchione said. "Dr. J.P. Bramhall performed the surgery on Friday and Reggie will be limited in the spring and probably unable to throw."
McNeal started 11 of 12 games for the Aggies this past season and completed 113-of-221 passes for 1,782 yards and eight touchdowns. He was the second-leading rusher on the squad with 370 yards on the ground.
The Aggies currently have two walkon quarterbacks on the roster. Ty Branyon, a redshirt freshman from Austin who played in one game in 2003, and T.J. Sanders, a true freshman from Goddard, Kansas, who did not see any action last fall.
