WATKINS QUOTEBOARD
"We foul too much, we are not playing as well defensively as we should be and our execution is going down. We are playing hard, but we have mental breakdowns where we turn the ball over and make mistakes. I thought our starters' energy level was not what it should be. No one deserves to play if they don't play hard. I didn't think (Antoine Wright) was playing with the energy he needed to play with. Kevin Turner didn't play at all for reasons I am not going to discuss. Guys have to understand you have to come in and play hard no matter who you are. They have to play hard and within the game plan. I looked out there at one point and we had three freshmen on the floor. It doesn't matter who is out there if they are playing hard. We rebound the ball well, maybe the best in the conference, but we aren't making the plays down the stretch to get us over the hump. Oklahoma struggled a bit at the start of conference play, but they have really come on. They are a young team but they play hard and are very well coached. "

Nebraska Recap
COLLEGE STATION (AP) -- Nate Johnson hit four free throws in the final minute of play and scored 19 points to lead Nebraska to an 83-77 victory over Texas A&M. Nebraska only hit two field goals in the last 14 minutes of play, but hit 25-of-26 free throws over the same stretch to outlast A&M. A&M lost its ninth straight game. The Aggies were led by Jesse King's 18 points and seven rebounds. A&M opened the game 0-of-6 from the field, allowing Nebraska to get out to an early 8-1 lead. Back-to-back scores from Acie Law along with just three Nebraska points in the final five minutes of the first period opened the door for the Aggies. A last second shot by Bobby Leach gave A&M a 33-32 halftime edge. The lead was shortlived as the Huskers' opened the second half on an 18-3 run to take a 50-36 lead. Nebraska's fast start hit a road block midway through the second half, as the Cornhuskers could not get any open looks and kept heading to the line. A&M trailed by as little as three with 1:04 remaining, but Nebraska hit all eight of its free throws in the final minute to hold on to the win.
Last Year vs. OU at Reed Arena
COLLEGE STATION (AP/March 1, 2003) -- Hollis Price scored 23 points and led a strong three-point shooting effort as No. 3-ranked Oklahoma held on for a 69-64 Big 12 Conference victory over Texas A&M. A senior point guard, Price has been a steady influence all season for the Sooners, who entered off of Wednesday's 67-52 loss at Missouri which coach Kelvin Sampson said he had no explanation for the poor performance. Price led the way again Saturday, scoring 14 points in the opening half for the Sooners, who remained tied with Texas in the conference standings, one game behind first-place Kansas. Price hit four of the Sooners' nine 3-pointers. Ebi Ere added 12 points for Oklahoma, which led by as many as 17 points in the second half before the Aggies crawled to within three in the waning seconds. But Price made two foul shots with 7.3 seconds remaining to seal the victory. Bernard King netted 17 points and Tomas Ress 11 for the Aggies.
Last Year vs. OU in Norman
NORMAN, Okla.(AP/Jan. 28, 2003)- Bernard King became Texas A&M's all-time leading scorer and the Aggies fought back from a 19-point second-half deficit but fell just short in a 75-68 loss at No. 6 Oklahoma.
King moved past Vernon Smith, who scored 1,778 points for the Aggies from 1977-81. Hollis Price scored 24 points and Ebi Ere had 18 for the Sooners, who extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 33 games. The Aggies got 21 points from King. Oklahoma put together a 14-0 run in the first half to get control after a listless start in which it committed six of its 11 turnovers. The Aggies led 13-9 before Price made a 3-pointer and followed with a short bank shot. Ere added a short jumper and two free throws in the spurt. The Aggies, meanwhile, went scoreless for nearly seven minutes. Oklahoma scored the first seven points of the second half to build a 48-29 lead. Texas A&M gradually chipped away and got within 68-61 with 3:44 left. The Aggies nearly cut the margin to four, but a 3-point try by Kevin Turner with 2:55 remaining rimmed out. White then hit a jumper in the lane to make it 70-61, and after an A&M turnover, Kevin Bookout scored on a pass from Price for an 11-point lead with 1:51 to play.
