The No.18 Texas A&M softball team (3-0, 0-0) will compete in the Fiesta Bowl Classic, Friday through Sunday, at the Rose Mofford Athletic Complex in Phoenix. A&M will play five games in the tournament, four of which will be against ranked opponents.
"I am excited to see us compete against the caliber of teams that we will see," A&M Head Coach Jo Evans said. "We will certainly be tested by all of our opponents. I think we played well in our first three games and I am anxious to see us face some better competition. It will be good to face some tough pitching and see how our hitters perform."
A&M opens play on Friday at 1:15 p.m. (CST) against No. 16 Oregon followed by No. 2 Arizona at 3:45 p.m. On Saturday the Aggies take on No. 5 Washington at 4:30 p.m. and unranked New Mexico at 6:30 p.m. A&M wraps up tournament play on Sunday with a single game against No. 23 Fresno St. at 9:15 a.m.
Oregon and A&M last played on March 16, 2000 at the Capital Classic Tournament in Sacramento, California. A&M defeated the No. 23-ranked Ducks 5-2. The Aggies leads the all-time series 3-0.
Arizona and A&M played each other three times last season. Arizona was ranked No. 2 in the first game at the 2003 Fiesta Bowl Classic. The Wildcats won that game 6-0. A&M and top-ranked Arizona met twice more in the NCAA Regionals in Tucson at the end of the season. The Wildcats defeated the Aggies in both games sweeping the season series. Arizona holds the all-time series record 18-4.
Washington and A&M last played on March 25, 1995. The No. 20-ranked Huskies defeated the Aggies 8-6 at the Pony Invitational in Fullerton, California. Washington leads the all-time series 2-0.
A&M and New Mexico have played 20 times in the history of the two programs with the Aggies holding a 15-5 edge over the Lobos. Their last meeting came on February 19, 1999 when the Lobos defeated the Aggies 6-1 in the Aggie Invitational in College Station.
Fresno State and A&M played last season in the Fiesta Bowl Classic. A&M defeated the Bulldogs 2-1 in nine innings. Fresno State leads the all-time series 9-4.

The Aggies next home game is Wednesday, February 18 against the University of Houston. The Ags and Cougars will play a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. with the second game to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, February 11 but was postponed due to a rain-soaked field.
