The Texas A&M men's golf team fired an eight-under par 280 on Thursday to move into fifth place at the 19-team John Burns Intercollegiate at the Leilehua Golf Course. The final round is scheduled for Friday.

The Aggies' two-round total of 283-280=563, 13-under-par on the par-72, 6,950-yard course, trails leader New Mexico (276-299=555) by eight strokes. UNLV is in second at 556, followed by Arizona (557) and California (562). The Aggies are three strokes ahead of sixth-place Colorado (566).

A&M senior David Tasker is in fifth place in the individual standings with a seven-under-par total of 70-67=137 and trails leader Spencer Levin of New Mexico (67-65=132) by five strokes.

Also for A&M, junior David Schultz is in 19th place at (70-71=141), sophomore Andrew Parr is in 29th (71-71=142), senior Stephen Reed is in 41st (72-71=143) and senior Parker Briley is in 95th (74-77=151).

"I'm pleased with where we are at," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We haven't played our best golf and we still have a chance to win the tournament. The guys are playing hard and I'm proud of the way they are performing. If we can get some putts to drop on Friday, we have a good chance."
