The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the Louisiana Classics on Monday and Tuesday at Oakbourne Country Club.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday for a 54-hole total on the par-72, 7,002-yard course.
In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes SMU, Tulsa, Baylor, Texas Tech, North Texas, Southern Mississippi, LSU, Rice, Louisiana-Lafayette, Missouri, Kansas State, Kansas, Colorado and Texas-San Antonio.
A&M will be represented by senior David Tasker, senior Stephen Reed, sophomore Andrew Parr, junior David Schultz and senior Parker Briley.
Tasker leads the Aggies with a 72.50 stroke average, followed closely by Reed (72.79) and Parr (73.07). The Aggies opened their spring season with a tie for sixth place in a 19-team field at the John Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 20 in Hawaii. The Aggies carded a 15-under-par score of 849, the fourth best in school history.
"This is a big district tournament for us because of its bearing on regionals, so its really important for us to play well," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "We're hoping to build on our performance in Hawaii and continue to put up some low scores. We've played well in this tournament in the past and that, along with our recent showings, should give us some confidence."
The Aggies are ranked No. 31 nationally and fourth in the South Central District by Golfweek. The top eight teams in the district advance to the NCAA Central Regional May 20-22 in West Lafayette, Ind.
