The No. 12 Texas A&M baseball team will take on Houston in a midweek game at Cougar Field this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The 14-2 Aggies are off to one of the best starts in school history after winning two of three games at UCLA this past weekend.
Houston enters the game with a record of 5-9, but 12 of its games have been against nationally-ranked teams. Last weekend, the Cougars won one game of a three-game set at No. 1 LSU.
The last time the two schools met was in the finals on the 2003 NCAA Regional Tournament in College Station. UH defeated the Aggies twice to advance to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Championships.
A&M leads the all-time series with Houston, 95-52-1, but the two teams have split the last 10 games against each other.
Junior college transfer Kyle Marlatt will toe the rubber to start the game for the Aggies. Marlatt was dominant in his last outing as he pitched a complete game against New Mexico in the final game of the Domino's Pizza Aggie Baseball Classic. Marlatt lasted all eight innings, allowing one run on four hits. He fanned five hitters and did not allow a free pass.
Houston will counter with right-hander Shea Hancock, a true freshman who will be making his first start of the season. He has appeared in four games and has allowed one earned run in 10 innings. More impressively, he has fanned eight hitters and allowed just three hits in that span.
