Sophomore Andrew Parr and junior David Schultz each fired two-under-par 70s on Tuesday to lead the Texas A&M men's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the 19th Annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
The Aggies carded a final-round team score of one-over-par 289, the second-best round of the day. A&M's 54-hole total of 882 finished 17 strokes behind tournament champion SMU (865).
Kansas was second at 866, followed by Texas Tech (868), Tulsa (879), A&M, LSU (883), Texas-San Antonio (892), Tennessee (892), Colorado (893), Louisiana-Lafayette (895), Texas State (899), Rice (905), North Texas (907), Missouri (919) and Arkansas State (930).
A&M senior David Tasker tied for 10th in the individual standings with rounds of 75-70-74=219. Also for the Aggies, Schultz tied for 13th (74-76-70=220), Parr tied for 15th (77-74-70=221), senior Stephen Reed tied for 20th (75-72-75=222) and senior Parker Briley tied for 64th (77-77-78=232).
Kansas' Kevin Ward won the individual title with a six-under-par total of 72-72-66=210, finishing one stroke ahead of runner-up Will Dodson of SMU (70-73-68=211).
The Aggies return to action at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesday in Austin.
