The Texas A&M men's golf team carded an opening round of eight-over-par 296 on Monday morning at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate and were in 13th place when the afternoon round was postponed because of darkness.
The Aggies were 12-over-par in the second round, 20-over for the tournament, when play was called. A&M, Pepperdine and Virginia were the only teams remaining on the course and will complete the second round on Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. The final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. start at Austin Country Club.
No. 19-ranked Brigham Young leads the tournament with a 10-under-par total of 281-285=566, one stroke ahead of No. 7 TCU (-9). No. 9 Oklahoma State is in third (-5), followed by No. 22 Arkansas (-4), Tulsa (+3), No. 24 Oklahoma (+4), California (+5), Virginia (+6), No. 6 Texas (+6), Baylor (+10), Pepperdine (+12), SMU (+13), A&M (+20), Houston (+23) and Fresno State (+28).
Arkansas Andrew Dahl blistered the 6,996-yard, par-72 course with a 12-under-par total of 64-68=132 and leads the individual standings by four strokes over BYU's Jake Ellison (65-71=136).
A&M's opening round scores were senior Stephen Reed and junior David Schultz with one-over-par 73s, senior David Tasker with a 74, sophomore Andrew Parr with a 76 and senior Parker Briley with an 87.
In the second round, Reed is one-over-par through 17 holes, Schultz is four-over through 16, Tasker is two-over through 15, Parr is five-over through 15 and Briley is 13-over through 16.
