No. 9 Texas A&M will play Lamar and Sam Houston in midweek action before opening Big 12 Conference play this weekend with a three-game set against Baylor.

The Aggies play Lamar at Vincent-Beck Stadium in Beaumont on Tuesday before hosting Sam Houston on Wednesday at Olsen Field. Both games will begin at 7 p.m.

A&M won all four of last week's games to improve to 18-2, equaling the program's best start since the 1993 squad had an identical record after 20 games.

For their efforts, the Aggies jumped from No. 12 to No. 9 in the latest Baseball America poll and remained at No. 13 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30.

Lamar enters Tuesday's game with a record of 15-4 after winning all five of its games last week against Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State. Lamar pitching did not allow a run in the three-game series against Arkansas State.

Texas A&M leads the all-time series with Lamar, 27-7.

Jon Michael Cline will make his first start of the season on the mound for the Aggies. He appeared in one game and allowed one hit and fanned two batters in 1.1 innings of work against Arkansas to earn the win.

Lamar will counter with left-hander Derrick Gordon, who is 2-0 with a 4.09 ERA.

The Aggies also lead the all-time series with Sam Houston, 71-35-1, including a 15-1 win earlier this season.

Starting pitchers for Wednesday's game against Sam Houston have yet to be determined.
