This weekend was awesome! We finally started to play Aggie Softball!! Everyone stepped up and rose to the occasion. It was so much fun!
We left for the Florida State Tournament on Thursday, so our spring break started kind of early. We played two pool games on Friday, two pool games on Saturday, and then bracket began. We went 3-1 in our pool placing us as the fourth seed in bracket play. So our first bracket game came on Saturday night at 7 p.m against Notre Dame, making it our third game of the day. Let me tell you, I have never felt so old in my life. I don't know how I did it when I was younger, playing 4 or 5 games in a day. I didn't think I was going to make it, and I don't even play a tiring position! My hat is surely off to Nicole...she caught all six games, including the three on Saturday.
Anyway, back to the game, we played so good! Jill was the starting pitcher and she gave a stellar performance. She dominated them! It was great! We won 2-1, sending us into the winner's bracket on Sunday. We faced good ol' Nebraska on Sunday morning. We beat them 3-2 in another extra inning game. We went into the international tie-breaker in the 8th tied 2-2. Jana came through with a huge hit and scored Sharonda from second, giving us the 3-2 lead and the win. It was awesome!
Beating Nebraska placed us in the championship game, but the game was at slated for 2 p.m., which would cause us to miss our 3 o'clock flight. Our coaches did everything they could to find us another flight, but it just wasn't meant to be, so we were not able to play in the championship game. So all in all, we walked away from the tournament 5-1.
Jill Weynand, Jana James, and Sharonda McDonald were named to the All-Tournament Team for their outstanding play this weekend. CONGRATULATIONS!! You guys were great!
The best thing of the weekend though, softball aside, was our team's discovery of the game Catch Phrase. WE LOVE THIS GAME! If you want to see some crazy, excited, loud girls...come see us in the middle of this game. It is CRAZY! We get fired up! Let me tell though, if you play this game with us you better bring your A game and by all means do not mess up. We are brutal! I love it!
We leave for California tomorrow and start playing in the Kia Classic on Thursday. You can't beat spending your spring break in Florida and California! We are going a couple of days early so we can have some fun in Cali before its all business on Thursday. Hopefully we start right were we left off this weekend! I can't wait!
Till next time,
Adrian
