The Texas A&M softball team fell to 18-12 on the season as they were beat by the No. 9 Washington Huskies, 5-0, on Thursday in the Kia Klassic. With the loss the Aggies fell to 1-1 in pool play.

The Huskies put one run on the board in the top of the first when Dena Tyson hit a two-out single to right scoring Aimee Minor from second.

Tyson recorded her second RBI of the game in the second inning when she hit a sac fly to center scoring pinch runner Jamie Rau from third and giving Washington a 2-0 lead.

Washington added two runs in the fourth off of two hits and one error giving them a 4-0 lead. UW catcher Kristen Rivera added a fifth run to the lead in the fifth with a solo home run to right center.

Redshirt freshman Jill Weynand got the start and the loss for the Aggies as she lasted two innings and allowed two runs, both earned, on six hits. Weynand fell to 7-4 on the season.

Senior Lindsay Wilhelmson (4-3) entered in relief and finished the game throwing five innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits.

A&M closes out pool play on Friday when they take on No. 13 Pacific at 1 p.m. (CST). Bracket play begins Friday night and continues through Sunday.
