The Aggies (18-15) scored three runs in the top of the second but could not hold off a late Sun Devil rally as they fell 5-3 to No. 23 Arizona State in their final game of the Kia Klassic.

First baseman Lindsay Park gave the Aggies a 3-0 advantage in the second when she hit her first home run of the season. The round-tripper scored Kristin Gunter and Laura Durham after they reached on a single and a double, respectively.

The Sun Devils took the lead in the fifth off of two home runs. Leadoff hitter Valerie Sevilla hit a two-run shot with no outs before right fielder Trish Tornbeg put ASU on top with a two-out three-run shot to center.

Senior Jessica Kapchinski took the loss and fell to 4-4 on the season as she worked 4 2/3 innings allowing five runs, all earned, on five hits while striking out five.

Freshman Jill Weynand worked 1 1/3 innings in relief and allowed one hit and no runs.

The Aggies open conference play on Saturday, March 27 at 2 p.m. (CST) when they host No. 7 Oklahoma.
