Head Football Coach Dennis Franchione and the Aggie football team had a "spirited workout" for a couple of hours in full pads on Friday as a number of coaches from many levels watched workout.
One of the highlights was a "post-Aggie drill" where offensive lineman Dominique Steamer "called out" defensive lineman Johnny Jolly and none of the coaches were present. The enthusiam and excitement was tremendous.
"After Aggie drill, some of the players decided they wanted some additional work and I couldn't tell what was going on," Coach Fran said. "The players have been working hard and I know Johnny (Jolly) had a really good day. He did a good job of getting off of blocks and he is having fun."
"Jami Hightower is moving around well and has shown good retention and he is having fun," Coach Fran said.
Coach Fran announced after consulting with the players and allowing for a majority vote, the team will wear white shoes, white socks and white face masks.
Terrence "White Shoes" Murphy decided to bring out a pair of his personal white shoes for practice on Friday.
The entire Aggie football team will give back to the community by participating in the Big Event, the largest student-run service project in the country, on Saturday. The football squad will work for two hours assisting in several projects before meeting back at the stadium for a 3 p.m. workout.
The Maroon & White football game will be held on Saturday, Apr. 17 beginning at 3 p.m.
