The Texas A&M football team held its sixth spring training workout for about two and a half hours Monday at the grass practice facility near Kyle Field.

The Aggies worked out in shorts and helmets, but left the shoulder pads in the locker room for the final time.

The team will split the remainder of the week between the weight room and the practice field. The next practice will be Tuesday as the squad readies for a scrimmage slated for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Kyle Field.

Stopping by practice on Monday was ESPN college football analyst and former A&M defensive coordinator Bob Davie. The longtime A&M assistant coach (1985-93) and former Notre Dame head coach was on assignment for ESPN.com.

A&M coach Dennis Franchione said he enjoyed visiting with Davie as the two discussed college football from a national perspective.

"We were just talking about the trends in college football," Franchione said. "(Davie) sees a lot as he tours the country. It was nothing specific about any one school, but just some of the trends in college football."

The Aggies continue to prepare for the annual Maroon and White Game presented by AT&T Wireless on April 17 at 3 p.m. at Kyle Field.
