The Texas A&M football team drilled for over two hours in full pads on Tuesday at the grass practice fields.
After the workout, Aggie head coach Dennis Franchione was asked about his team's depth at running back behind 1,000-yard rusher Courtney Lewis.
"Derek Brown has shown some real flashes, and so has Chris Alexander," Franchione said. "And, of course, you can't eliminate Keith Joseph from that group. All four of them are working there at different times right now, and all four bring a little different style to the table. Derek's a little faster, a little shiftier. Keith and Chris are good zone runners - make one cut and hit it hard. And that's fine. Sometimes when you're running that play, the big back doing it has a chance to do some good things."
He also praised the development and toughness of Chad Schroeder, who has made the successful transition from high school quarterback to college wide receiver.
"Chad's come a long way as a receiver making the move from quarterback," Franchione said. "He really didn't have a great spring last year because he pulled his hamstring early and missed a good bit of it. But his development has just gotten better and better and better. He's got a whole year under his belt playing receiver, and now he's comfortable there and more confident. He's a tough young man. He will go across the middle and make the plays that he needs to make."
