The Texas A&M football team drilled for two and a half hours in shorts and shells with head coach Dennis Franchione paying special attention to the offense on Monday at the grass practice fields.
The defense shined in last Saturday's scrimmage, and Franchione said he wanted to focus on the offense on Monday.
"I spent a little more time (with the offense), but the good thing is that when we're in team I can watch both sides pretty well," Franchione said. "We've just got a lot of inexperience. There were three redshirt freshmen working on the first-team offensive line today. We're inexperienced at quarterback right now. There are just things that we need to continue work on and improve."
Monday's workout was the 10th of the 2004 spring drills and five more remain.
"We need to just get better," Franchione said of his goals for the remainder of spring drills. "The offense is still finishing some installations, and so is the defense but not to the degree of the offense. There's a fine line between pushing to get "x" amount installed in 15 days and where do you stop and draw the line and get more reps. That's the juggling act you have to make to give them a chance to be somewhat proficient in executing what they have. You like to have some things at least introduced before you leave spring, so it's in their minds a little bit when we come back in the fall."
