The Texas A&M volleyball team faces its toughest competition of the spring season Saturday as the Aggies participate in the UC Santa Barbara Spring Tournament in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The Aggies are slated to face 2003 NCAA Final Four participants Hawaii and Minnesota, as well as UC Irvine, which advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championships. A&M, which advanced to the Sweet 16 and is 8-0 in spring-season matches, also takes on the host Gauchos, who have participated in all 23 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships.

Other teams participating in the spring tournament are NCAA participants Arizona and Pepperdine, as well as Cal Poly.

The one-day event will be held at the Thunderdome on the UCSB campus. All matches will be best two-out-of-three games using rally scoring. Recent changes to the NCAA rules will be followed, including the rule allowing the libero to serve.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 14 and under.

8:45 a.m. UCSB vs. Texas A&M; Pepperdine vs. Arizona

10 a.m. Minnesota vs. Hawaii; UC Irvine vs. Cal Poly

11:15 a.m. UCSB vs. Hawaii; Pepperdine vs. Cal Poly

12:30 p.m. Minnesota vs. Texas A&M; UC Irvine vs. Arizona

1:45 p.m. Texas A&M vs. Hawaii; Arizona vs. Cal Poly

3 p.m. UCSB vs. Minnesota; Pepperdine vs. UC Irvine

4:15 p.m. Texas A&M vs. UC Irvine; Hawaii vs. Cal Poly

5:30 p.m. UCSB vs. Pepperdine; Minnesota vs. Arizona

The Aggies conclude their spring exhibition schedule Saturday, April 17 at the SMU Tournament in Dallas.
