The Texas A&M men's golf team carded a 294 on Saturday and is tied for fifth going into Sunday's final round of the 19th annual Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at Saughahatchee Country Club.
Sophomore Andrew Parr is tied for seventh in the individual standings with a one-under-par total of 70-73=143, five strokes behind leader Jonathan Dismuke of Auburn, who has posted a six-under-par score of 68-70=138.
A&M senior David Tasker is tied for 15th at 74-72=146, while senior Stephen Reed (71-76=147) and junior David Schultz (74-73=147) are tied for 22nd. Sophomore Rand Arbuckle is tied for 58th at 76-81=157.
Host Auburn leads the tournament with an eight-under-par total of 284-184=568, seven strokes ahead of second-place Memphis (575). Jacksonville State is in third (576), followed by Georgia State (582), A&M (289-294=583), Florida State (583), Mississippi (584), College of Charleston (586), Southeastern Louisiana (587), Alabama-Birmingham (591), South Alabama (594) and Mississippi State (609).
"We started terribly but came back and finished strong on the back nine," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "That's been our pattern in recent tournaments. We've got to be more determined at the start of our rounds and not give away so many shots early. We're going to focus on that on Sunday."
