The Texas A&M football team selected its Leadership Council for the 2004 season, Aggie head coach Dennis Franchione announced on Tuesday.

The Leadership Council, which Coach Fran first established back as the head coach at New Mexico, consists of players who serve in an advisory role.

"These 12 players were selected by their teammates and they are an input group, not a policy-making group," Coach Fran said. "Input from our players is very important in determining the way we operate."

The following five players are second-year members of the Leadership Council: junior defensive back Jaxson Appel from Friendswood (Friendswood HS); senior defensive back Byron Jones from Bay City (Bay City HS); junior defensive back Ronald "Ray Ray" Jones from Dallas (Skyline HS); junior linebacker Archie McDaniel from Bay City (Bay City HS); and senior wide receiver Terrence Murphy from Tyler (Chapel Hill HS).

Seven first-year members of the Leadership Council are: sophomore quarterback Ty Branyon from Austin (Bowie HS); redshirt freshman defensive lineman Joseph "Red" Bryant from Jasper (Jasper HS); junior offensive lineman Aldo De La Garza from New Braunfels (New Braunfels HS); junior offensive lineman Jami Hightower from Jacksonville (Jacksonville HS); junior defensive lineman Johnny Jolly from Houston (Forest Brook HS); senior running back Keith Joseph from Houston (Lamar HS); and senior defensive lineman Mike Montgomery from Tenaha (Center HS).

The first order of business for this group is to draft the Maroon & White squads for the Maroon & White Spring Game, presented by AT&T Wireless. The draft will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 14 and the game will be played on Saturday, Apr. 17 at 3 p.m. at Kyle Field.

Admission is free for Texas A&M students with an all-sports pass or their student ID. Children 12 and under are admitted free and everyone else is charged $5. Tickets are currently on sale at the athletic ticket office located in the Zone at Kyle Field or by calling 1-888-99-AGGIE (888-992-4443). The ticket windows at the north end of Kyle Field will open on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and the gates will open at 1 p.m.

The spring game will be streamed live on Aggie Ultimate Access (AUA). Membership is $4.95 a month or $49 a year. Fans must have high-speed internet connections to properly view the content. All three Aggie baseball games against Oklahoma this weekend will also be streamed live.
