Right fielder Rocky Spencer hit two homeruns in the first two innings as the Texas A&M softball team completed their sweep of the Lady Raiders with a 12-5 victory at Rocky Johnson Field. The Aggies improved to 28-16 overall and 10-1 in conference play while the Lady Raiders fell to 19-30 and 1-11.

"I thought that our kids really swung the bat well," A&M Head Coach Jo Evans said. "We showed really good patience at the plate. It was nice to see Rocky step up today and get a couple of home runs. Again, it was an overall great team effort with our hitting throughout the lineup and different people stepping up getting big RBI's for us. I thought we played really well as a team and put two really good games together."

Jessica Kapchinski earned the victory after throwing five innings in relief and allowing one run on four hits. The win was her eighth in a row as she improved to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in Big 12 play.

Spencer led off the scoring with a solo home run in the first giving the Aggies a 1-0 lead before designated player Kristin Gunter made it a 2-0 on a sacrifice fly to left field. Left fielder Jana James scored on the play after reaching on a double before stealing third.

Spencer made it 5-0 in the second when she hit her second homer of the game scoring catcher Nicole Robinson and pitcher Lindsay Wilhelmson. Robinson was hit by a pitch and Wilhelmson walked.

The Lady Raiders cut the lead to 5-1 in the third when Natalie Enderlin hit a triple to right center that plated Ashley Parker. Designated player Elyssa Sigala then made it 5-2 with a double in the left field gap that scored Parker. Left fielder Kelly Rhyne made it a 5-4 game when she hit a home run to left, scoring Sigala.

The Aggies put five runs across in the fifth, increasing their lead to 10-4. Gregory walked and Gunter, Robinson and Wilhelmson all singled before second baseman Sherah Atkins homered to left giving the Aggies a six-run lead.

Robinson made it an 11-4 game in the sixth with a single to left field that scored Gunter from second. Gunter reached on and error and advanced to second on a passed ball.

Tech put one run across in the sixth and the Aggies added one in the seventh to close the game out with a 12-5 victory.

The Aggies play again on Wednesday when they take on Oklahoma State in a doubleheader in Stillwater. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
