The No. 24 Texas A&M softball team endured a two hour and 15 minute rain delay before defeating the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (25-23, 5-7), 3-2, on Wednesday at the Cowgirl Softball Stadium. The Aggies and Cowgirls were scheduled to play a doubleheader but, due to severe weather, the second game was called in the third inning. With the win the Aggies improved to 29-16 overall and 11-1 in Big 12 play. The 11 wins are the most wins in conference since 1996, the first year of Big 12 play, when the Aggies finished 11-11.

Jessica Kapchinski pitched her eighth complete game of the season and improved to 14-5 overall, and 10-1 in league play. Kapchinski finished the game with two runs allowed, one earned, on four hits while striking out seven. The earned run was only the third earned run Kapchinski has allowed in 64.2 innings of conference action. Her 0.32 ERA is also the lowest in the league.

A&M wasted no time in jumping on top of OSU as they pushed two runs across in the first inning. After just missing a grand slam, first baseman Kristen Gunter drove in the Aggie runs when she hit a bases-loaded double to left center that scored outfielders Sharonda McDonald and Rocky Spencer.

After OSU cut the lead to one in the second, shortstop Adrian Gregory knocked in Spencer from second, giving the Aggies a 3-1 lead in the fifth. Spencer scored from second after reaching on a walk and moving to second on a Jana James sac bunt.

OSU cut the lead to one in the fifth, and threatened to tie the game with runners on first and second in the final frame, but Kapchinski forced OSU's final batter to pop out, ending the game and keeping the Aggies in second place in the Big 12.

The Aggies entered the game with 110 stolen bases as a team, two away from the team season record of 112, and finished with 111 thanks to Spencer's seventh-inning nab. The Aggies will look to break the record and continue their nine-game winning streak on Saturday when they host Missouri, currently third place in the Big 12, at 2 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Field.
