Texas A&M senior Jessica Kapchinski was named the Big 12 Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday. Kapchinski previously was named the pitcher of the week on April 13.
Kapchinski won her ninth and 10th games in a row last week after throwing two complete games while allowing only one earned run. In the 3-2 win against Oklahoma State last Wednesday, the Humble, Texas, right-hander allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out seven. In the 2-0 victory over Missouri on Saturday she dominated the Tigers by throwing seven innings and allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four.
The Aggies (30-16, 12-1) are currently in second place in the Big 12 and will carry a 10-game winning streak in to Wednesday's game against Texas (23-19, 5-9). First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Field.
